L'Oreal swallows The BodyShop

      swollows

Roddick shows true colours?!

First, a little note on L'Oréal itself.

They don't want to talk about it. They don't want you to know about it. But behind the glossy advertising and famous celebrities, the biggest cosmetics company in the world hides a shameful secret.

Despite knowing the overwhelming public revulsion, L'Oréal continues to use thousands of animals to test upon every year. L'Oréal does not want to reveal animal testing to their customers, and they certainly don't want to reveal the disgusting range of tests carried out on the animals.

In the name of vanity, animals are subjected to painful and cruel ingredient testing by the industry.

Disgraceful eye irritation tests are conducted by securing rabbits so they are immobile while substances are dropped into their eyes (rabbits are used because they have no tear ducts and therefore can't relieve the stinging and pain).

Poisoning takes place whereby groups of animals are continually force-fed an ingredient until half of the group dies. Other animals have their skin shaved and scraped until it's super-sensitive, then the particular chemical is applied to test skin reactions - making sure that the animal cannot scratch or remove the substance.

It is hard to imagine the pain suffered by these beings. But we all know how sore it can be when we get something in our eye or our skin is scraped - at least we can immediately do something to relieve the pain. Think of what it would be like, if we were unable to touch or stop the pain, not just for a minute or two, but for hours running into days.

It's simply disgraceful!

And I have only briefly mentioned three tests - there are a further six animal tests commonly used by the cosmetics industry.

Thankfully, some countries, such as the UK have banned cometic ingredients testing, so L'Oréal had to go elsewhere, such as Japan or the U.$. of A where animal testing is allowed. However, the sale of products developed via animal testing is NOT banned. So, despite overwhelming public disapproval, L'Oréal continues new product developments via animal testing.

L'Oréal is pretty much the single biggest obstacle to ending cosmetic testing on animals within the EU.

Only with the help of "now L'Oréal consumers" this battle, on behalf of tens of thousands of animals that are tortured and killed for vanity products every year, can be won.

For more info, you can read French cosmetics tested on animals or pay NatureWatch.Org a visit.

"Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories and are called cosmetic or medical research."
-George Bernard Shaw-

Now the second part: L'Oréal swolling The BodyShop.

L’Oréal, owned largely by the Nestlé corporation is one of the largest cosmetic companies in the world. Long subject to a boycott from animal rights groups including PeTA because of its animal testing policy. L’Oréal, who have consistently attempted to mislead the public about their record on animal testing by claiming it no longer tests finished products on animals have continued to test its ingredients on animal.

Founded by notorious Nazi
Eugene Schueller, a member of the notorious terrorist, facsist French organisation La Cagoule, L'Oréal is now controlled by his daughter Liliane Bettencourt.

One of the richest people in the world with an estimated personal fortune of £16 billion, Bettencourt’s pet cause is the
Bettencourt Schueller Foundation, which awards the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Life Sciences to Europeans working in the field of 'life sciences' (generally biotech companies, vivisectionists and the like).

Meanwhile Nestlé, who own a controlling stake in L’Oréal have been cited as
one of the most boycotted companies in the world, largely due to their continued dishonest and aggressive marketing of baby milk formulas in Africa. Nestlé implies that malnourished mothers, and mothers of twins and premature babies are unable to breastfeed, despite health organisations claims that there is no evidence to support this.

Revealing her rather surprising (at least to me) hypocrisy Roddick has stated on her website “I am so excited that on the 30th anniversary of the BodyShop, this partnership--I see it truly as a partnership--is happening. The campaigning, being a maverick, changing the rules of business.”

Some commentators have speculated that Roddick is more likely to be excited about the 117 million she sets to make from the deal.

What say you about this merger?!

PS: The BodyShop has been criticized for various reasons. To get a taste of it check out what McSpotlight.Org has to say.

PPS:

L'Oréal Animal Experiment Bunnies:
"We don't think L'Oréal girls are 'Worth it'!"

She may look sweet but this bloodsucking vamp will do anything...
anything for soft and vibrant skin.

"You're not worth it, you fucking bitch"
say many bunnies.
