Dear readers, with the following article I want to motivate you and me that boycotting and campaigning can make a DIFFERENCE. Every one of us can do something.
This letter shows an example of what activists have achieved over years of hard work. And it paid off.
Moral of the story: If you have ideals then stick to them.
Boycott Corporate Criminals because it will benefit everybody in the long run! (except the greedy $ucker$ maybe)
Your short term happiness when consuming is as good as nothing compared to the long term benefits of boycotting and pressurising MNCs to change their destructive policies. It's all in our hands.
~peace~

Campaign Victory!
Dear Activists,
Ten years ago the Tobacco Industry Campaign targeting Philip Morris (now Altria) as the leader in spreading a preventable, global epidemic was launched. Together we have:
The public climate around the tobacco industry has shifted dramatically since 1996. In the US, Big Tobacco has been forced to:
Infact's grassroots campaign pressure on Philip Morris/Altria, including the Kraft Boycott, has exposed the truth behind the corporations's image and reduced its political and economic influence.
Today we celebrate the adoption of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC)--the world's first public health treaty. The FCTC will save millions of lives and change the way the tobacco industry operates. The treaty bans tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship, such as the Marlboro Man.
In recognition of this major victory in our corporate accountability organizing, Infact lifted the Kraft Boycott on June 23, 2003. Thank you, and congratulations on the successes we have achieved together! (personally I will still boycott them though, due to their usage of GM food and financial support of the Republican party in the U$A)

Countries Leading the Way
There are a few steps before the FCTC becomes binding international law. After the treaty was adopted by the World Health Assembly, it opened for signature. By signing, countries formally express their support for the principles and provisions in the treaty. Once a country signs, it is expected to bring its domestic laws in line with the treaty. The next step is ratification. Once forty countries ratify the FCTC, the treaty becomes international law.
Countries that have signed:
Algeria | India Iran (Islamic Republic of) Ireland Israel Italy Jamaica Kuwait Lithuania Luxembourg Madagascar Malaysia Mali Malta Marshall Islands Mauritius Mexico Mongolia Mozambique Netherlands New Zealand Norway Palau Panama Paraguay | Philippines |
Countries that have ratified:

To read how Philip Morris (now Altria) cleverly targets children in their ad campaigns check this out!
It is really sickening if u think about it: The tabacco industry targets children to start smoking by portraying their products as a path to adulthood ("Cigarette smoking is an adult choice. The decision to smoke should be an adult one. Children should not smoke."). At 1st this slogan sounds fair but if you look at the psychological effect it has, then you'll see that this actually seduces teens to smoke instead of stopping them, and that is exactly what those $ucker$ want.
