Commerciali$m is one of the main causes for ignorance in this world. Can we blame people for being ignorant? I don't really know. Can we blame people for not wanting to see the bigger picture of this world and how everybody who qualifies as a con$umer is responsible for a lot of the suffering around the globe?
I don't know either. Although I do think that each one of us is responsible.
Often I feel that I am too serious, when it comes to global or social issues. Maybe I shouldn't care so much. I mean, looking at those people around me, at least 99.9% don't even spare a thought or "waste" a few precious moments to do some simple research regarding the products they buy every day or the luxury they "enjoy" each single moment.
I always try to make ethical decission when it comes to "shopping" (what a disgusting word). No matter what, be it my lunch or the batteries I buy for my walkman.
What the hell is wrong with me?
I guess being surrounded by all this ignorance makes me sick and in a way maybe too idealistic sometimes.
But what meaning is there left in life without idealism? There wouldn't be much left for me to live for.
This bloody hyper commerciali$m which brainwashes and blinds people is driven by the competitive environment (capitali$m) everywhere.
That stinks! But that particular environment is also responsible for people being as ignorant as they are and running after $ales and di$counts and the latest trends or hunks & babes on TV instead of spending some time on philosophy, social and global issues and politics.
A capitalist system creates an environment which is a perfect breeding ground for a society full of robots, blinded by commercialism and in a trance like state.
So how? What shall be done?
